Only half of NHS patients are able to see their preferred GP, a study found ANTHONY DEVLIN/PA

“Seeing only one family doctor cuts the risk of dying early by up to 53 per cent, an international analysis has found.

Having repeated appointments with the same GP was as effective at reducing death rates as some drugs, according to an overview of 22 studies.”

Unfortunately, can’t get to internals of the paper without a subscription…but intriguing conclusion, based on review of 22 other studies.

This British-led study also alleges that 50% of NHS patients don’t get to see their preferred PCP.
